Your tribunal hearing about discrimination

You will have heard by now that the Tribunal decided that the responsible body has discriminated against you for two main reasons.

Firstly, your school should have provided you with out of school education when you first started having difficulty in attending school.  Secondly, it would have helped you to have a plan in place to know what you should have been aiming for.

As a result of our conclusion that you were discriminated against, we have ordered that the following must happen:

  1. That the education authority responsible for your education sends you a written apology for the discrimination within 14 days.

  2. That the school prepares a written plan for the remainder of your school education. They must consult with you and your mum on the wording of that plan.  It must be finalised by March 2025.

  3. That the education authority puts together some written rules for pupils in your position in future, so that they get support early with any out of school education and that a written plan is prepared.  These written rules must be prepared by August 2025.

The views you provided to the advocacy worker were very helpful to us in reaching a decision. Thank you for doing that.

We wish you all the best for the future.

Yours sincerely,
